Trip to Tanzania

Exploring Culture and Service

BAYCC’s Trip to Tanzania offers high school and university students a unique opportunity to travel, explore, and engage in meaningful service. This immersive experience blends cultural exploration with humanitarian work, allowing participants to witness firsthand the rich history and diverse landscapes of Tanzania while contributing to local communities.

During the trip, students embark on exciting excursions, including a safari tour, visits to stunning beaches, and a boat trip to a famous island. They also gain insights into Tanzania’s heritage by visiting museums, local tribal villages, and historical landmarks that showcase the country’s unique traditions and way of life.

Beyond sightseeing, this program emphasizes giving back to the community. Participants visit Hizmet Schools, interact with local students, and take part in a welcome ceremony hosted in their honor. One of the most impactful moments is the visit to a local orphanage, where students engage in activities with the children. The trip also coincides with Eid al-Adha, giving participants the opportunity to help distribute meat to families in need and witness the deep sense of community and generosity during this time. A major highlight of the journey is attending a well-opening ceremony, where students see firsthand the impact of providing clean water to a village.

This program has left a lasting impression on past participants, offering them not only an unforgettable adventure but also a greater awareness of global issues and the importance of service. The experience encourages students to reflect on different ways of life and appreciate the work that Hizmet volunteers do around the world.

From BAYCC,
Bridging Communities and Cultures: Tanzania Trip

Organized by BAYCC, a nonprofit organization aiming to promote mutual understanding between nations, the Tanzania Trip strengthened the bond between our community here in San Jose and the communities in Tanzania through a profound cultural exchange. Our chosen participants visited this amazing country and got immersed in their vibrant culture, seeing a glimpse of their daily life, traditions and art. This amazing experience brought joy to both parties from different cultures, creating lifelong friendships.

Our participants observed wild animals that you would normally only see in zoos, such as antelopes, lions and elephants. Being this close to the natural wildlife of the area not only left them amazed at the wonders of our world, but also left them with the urge to explore more. They explored various landmarks, travelling from famous landmarks to landmarks, seeing amazing views and deep, vast seas, enjoying beautiful beaches.

However, our participant’s trip was not only filled with sightseeing landmarks and wild animals; they also helped the local community. Whether it is through helping distribute food to the community or helping cut the meat for distribution, our participants got immersed in the beautiful work ethic of the community, being one with their efforts, creating lifelong bonds.

While it was hard for both the locals and our participants to separate, the summer trip sadly had to come to an end eventually, leaving both parties with experiences they will not forget for the rest of their lives.
