School Supplies Preparation by YouthLink
In partnership with Compassion Week, YouthLink organized a heartwarming event focused on preparing school supply kits for foster care children from Rebekah Children’s Services. Leveraging generous past donations, YouthLink procured and gathered essential items such as backpacks, folders, pens, pencils, notebooks, and other school supplies. Volunteers of all ages and from diverse backgrounds—including YouthLink members, the BAYCC community, and interfaith partners—came together to assemble the kits in a spirit of unity and compassion. By the end of the day, 55 backpacks brimming with supplies were carefully packed, ready to support the academic journeys of these children. The completed backpack kits will be delivered to Rebekah Children’s Services in the near future, marking a meaningful contribution to the future of foster youth

Compassion Week Projects 2024
Compassion Week (an initiative by Los Altos Methodist Church) is an annual event in the South Bay Area that consistently fosters collaboration among organizations to serve the community. Hilal and Aysenur from Pacifica Institute and BAYCC are among the organizing committee members, and our community has been proud partners in this initiative over the years, contributing to various service projects to support those in need. This year is as significant as the past, with many impactful activities, including assembling hygiene kits, building playhouses, and preparing school supplies. The YouthLink, a youth wing of BAYCC, is actively participating in the initiatives. Volunteers have multiple opportunities from September 21 to 28 to engage in these meaningful efforts.

Breakfast at Family Supportive Housing
On Saturday morning, September 14, 2024, BAYCC volunteers had the privilege of preparing and serving breakfast at Family Supportive Housing (FSH). The morning was about serving a meal and building connections as volunteers and residents shared the breakfast in a warm, communal atmosphere. The leadership at FSH expressed their gratitude for the effort and enthusiasm, extending an invitation for BAYCC to collaborate on future initiatives and fostering a growing partnership to support the community even further.

PMC Prayers for Peace
The Peninsula Multifaith Coalition (PMC) organized the annual “Prayers for Peace” event on September 2, 2024, at the Redwood Picnic Area in Twin Pines Park, Belmont. This gathering, traditionally held on Labor Day, serves as a platform to bring together individuals from various faith traditions in a shared pursuit of unity, harmony, and peace. Faith leaders from different religious backgrounds led attendees through heartfelt prayers, songs, and chants, all intending to foster understanding, compassion, and a stronger sense of community. The event offered a space for reflection, solidarity, and collective action toward peace-building efforts. After the prayers, participants came together to share a potluck meal, further strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual respect across diverse cultures and beliefs.

Water well in Uganda by BAYCC Weekend School
In recent months, the BAYCC Weekend School partnered with Embrace Relief to launch a successful fundraiser to build water wells in Uganda. The weekend school students organized various fundraising activities, from bake sales to educational campaigns, inspiring students, families, and the wider community to contribute generously to the cause. Through their dedication, they not only raised significant funds but also created greater awareness about the severe challenges Ugandan communities face in accessing clean and safe water. Their efforts have made a significant, life-changing impact on these communities, and they should feel proud of their accomplishments.
