Hike & Read
A Weekly Journey of Reflection and Connection
On May 3rd, 2025, women and college graduate youth gathered at Stevens Creek Canyon Park for Hike & Read, a recurring Sunday event that blends physical activity with spiritual reflection. The main purpose of these 3-hour-long Hike & Read events is to create a mindful and spiritually enriching experience by combining physical activity with reflection. Through hiking in nature, participants had the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation, engage in meaningful conversations, and cultivate gratitude.
The event also included a dedicated time for reading spiritual texts, fostering personal growth, spiritual connection, and a sense of community. Additionally, we welcomed friends from diverse faith backgrounds to join us, encouraging interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding in a peaceful, respectful setting.
The standout moments included the peaceful hikes where we reflected on nature as a sign of God’s creation, followed by group readings of spiritual texts. The interfaith discussions that followed were especially meaningful, as participants from different backgrounds shared insights and connected on a deeper level. The event strengthened community bonds by providing a peaceful space for spiritual growth, reflection, and interfaith connection. It supported BAYCC’s goals of fostering inclusivity, promoting wellness, and encouraging meaningful dialogue among diverse community members. Hike & Read is an ongoing project held every Sunday.
