Dialogue & Community Iftar in Berkeley
Berkeley Community Iftar
On March 15, 2025, the North Berkeley Senior Center became a space for conversation, connection, and shared experience during the Dialogue & Community Iftar, co-hosted by Pacifica Institute and BAYCC.
The evening brought together attendees from a wide range of backgrounds to explore how open dialogue can help bridge divides and build community. A panel discussion titled “The Role of Dialogue in Bridging Divides and Healing Communities” invited thoughtful reflection, with speakers sharing personal and professional insights into what it means to foster understanding in a diverse society.
The conversation emphasized the importance of listening—truly listening—as a way to move beyond assumptions and toward common ground. Attendees were invited to engage, ask questions, and reflect on their own roles in shaping inclusive and compassionate communities.

As the sun set, the program shifted to a communal iftar meal. People gathered around tables to break their fast, share food, and continue the conversations sparked during the panel. The room was filled with the sounds of laughter, storytelling, and new connections forming.
Events like this are a core part of BAYCC’s mission to build bridges between communities and create spaces where dialogue and shared values take the lead. The Berkeley Iftar reminded everyone present that even in a busy and divided world, there is room—and real need—for moments of quiet connection and shared purpose.
