Santa Cruz Ramadan Iftar Party
A Night of Community and Connection
On March 6, 2025, university students gathered at UC Santa Cruz’s RCC Red Room for a special Ramadan Iftar Party. The evening was more than just a meal—it was a chance for students from diverse backgrounds to connect, learn, and share in the traditions of Ramadan.
The event began with a simple but meaningful tradition: breaking the fast with dates and water, followed by Maghrib prayer. As students came together in reflection, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The night continued with a delicious Iftar meal, offering everyone a chance to share conversations over good food. Turkish tea followed, providing a comforting touch as students engaged in casual discussions, exchanging stories, and getting to know one another.
With around 80 attendees, the event successfully brought together a mix of students, including 65 guests from outside the hosting community and approximately 15-16 American non-Muslim students who joined to experience and learn more about Ramadan.

The evening was a true testament to the power of food and fellowship in fostering understanding and lasting connections.
