Multi-Continent Iftar
Reflections Across Borders
On March 28, BAYCC hosted a uniquely personal iftar in Santa Clara—one that brought together Muslim guests from Asia, Africa, and America, as well as a visitor from a Christian background. The evening was small in number but rich in meaning.
The event was organized and semi-sponsored by BAYCC volunteers focused on Muslim Communities Engagement, with a special effort to reach out to local Afghan families. Guests arrived early for a casual meet-and-greet before settling in for Maghrib prayer, led by a brother from the Afghan community who also gave a beautiful call to prayer (ezan).
Their reflections touched on unity, belonging, and the need for more spaces like this—where people feel welcome, heard, and encouraged to contribute.

Dinner was followed by a short introduction to BAYCC and then something special: guests were invited to speak. Voices from across three continents shared their thoughts, their appreciation, and their hopes for future gatherings. Their reflections touched on unity, belonging, and the need for more spaces like this—where people feel welcome, heard, and encouraged to contribute.
What made this evening memorable wasn’t just the food or the turnout—it was the sense that something was beginning. Several guests expressed interest in joining future halaqas (discussion circles) and community support activities, and many left with a better understanding of BAYCC’s mission.
