On June 22nd, 2024, YouthLink, a group for social services under Bay Area Cultural Connections, successfully mobilized volunteers from Pacifica Institute and BAYCC organizations for the World Ocean Day Beach Cleanup at Mussel Rock Beach. In organizing this event the  YouthLink members collaborated with a Pacific Beach Coalition, a grassroots organization that works to facilitate voluntarism in cleaning beaches and water bodies. Starting at 9:00 am, the event drew numerous volunteers who collectively removed litter and debris, contributing to a cleaner and safer marine environment. The cleanup enhanced the beach’s natural beauty, strengthened community bonds, and increased awareness about the importance of ocean conservation. The event concluded with a music performance, adding a festive and celebratory atmosphere. YouthLink’s initiative highlighted the power of collective action in preserving our oceans and promoting a healthier planet.
