BAYCC Chess Championship took place on Feb 12, 2023 Sunday at the Turkish Cultural Center, 4701 Patrick Henry Dr building 18, Santa Clara, CA.

• Close to 30 people attended the event.
• There were 7 adult and 6 scholastic boards/pairings (totaling 26 people).
• People from different ages and cultures came together (originally from Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan).
• The winners of scholastic section (kid section) were Sedat (1st place), Sadyk (2nd place), and Jomart (3rd place), and the winners of the open section (adult section) were Kemal (1st place), Shaislam (2nd place), and Zamir (3rd place).
• Scholastic winners were awarded with medals, and adults were awarded with cash prizes of $150, $100, and $50.
• The event lasted about 2 hours.
• BAYCC Chess club collaborated with Bay Area Chess (official chess club in South Bay) to provide enough chess boards and sets for the players.
• ChessClock app by chess.com was used for the time control (10 min with 5 sec increment for the open section only).
• Chessmanager online platform was used for pairings and standings.
• Some people showed interest by suggesting to organize such events more often (especially for kids).
• We may be able to hold bigger and more professional chess tournaments in the future to bring people from different ages and backgrounds together and have engaging and fun activities.
