A Step Forward in San Francisco
Building Community through Iftar
On March 17, BAYCC volunteers were invited to attend a special iftar at the San Francisco Muslim Community Center on Mission Street—an opportunity to connect with the broader Muslim community in the city and begin building a more active presence in the region.
The evening featured short appreciation talks from several community leaders, including Brother Ahmed, Imam Nail, and alumni of the Tanzania Hizmet Schools. The conversations highlighted a shared commitment to community service and the positive impact local initiatives are having in San Francisco.
We’re grateful for the warmth and hospitality shown to us and look forward to being part of the great work already happening in the city.

For BAYCC, this was more than just a dinner. It marked the beginning of a more intentional collaboration with the Center and a chance to expand our work further into the San Francisco area. Attendees were welcoming, thoughtful, and openly appreciative of the volunteers present—though it was clear we need more people on the ground to fully support this kind of outreach.
We’re grateful for the warmth and hospitality shown to us and look forward to being part of the great work already happening in the city. With more hands and hearts involved, we believe this partnership can grow into something meaningful for everyone involved.
